Every year, Brookgreen Gardens in South Carolina has an event called “Night of 1000 Candles”. It runs over several weekends, and is a popular holiday event in our area. The gardens were once part of an estate owned by the founder of the A&P grocery store chain. The estate was formed by the purchase of three defunct rice plantations, and is relatively undeveloped. There is a zoo, statue and flower gardens, and a river ride. Across the street from the gardens is Huntington State Park, which was also once part of the estate. It has a very nice, large beach area, and several places you can walk on boardwalks into the marsh area and see the wildlife.
I took these pictures using a pocket digital camera, rather than use my phone. I thought it would give me a little better control of the results. A couple of potentially good shots failed to deliver, so I think next year, it’s back to the DLSR body. Hope you like what I got. Double click on the thumbnails to get the full sized photo.
